Angelie Ragnauth, also known as Ang, is a creative. She’s a Career & Technical Education (CTE) teacher specializing in graphic design where she guides her students to explore the field of design, media, and technology. As a graduate from New York City College of Technology, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Career & Technical Teacher Education. Ang started her journey fresh out of high school joining the Success Via Apprenticeship (SVA) program. The SVA program is a DOE initiative that allowed her to gain both classroom experience paired with industry experience for 5 years. This program shaped not only her skills, but her teaching identity. Her goal then became to intertwine theory with real world application.
Ang’s choice in pursuing the Interactive Media and Communications program stems from her own personal interest in widening her scope. Interactive media to her, will bridge the gap between storytelling and experience. Her overall goal in this program is to translate her newfound knowledge and skills into meaningful classroom experiences for her students, empowering them to also broaden their horizons.
Beyond teaching, Ang’s long term goal is to create a New York State Education Department approved graphic design CTE program at her school. Having joined a school that is emerging in the benefits of CTE, she hopes to be an asset to her environment while providing students with something they never had before. Her current focus is ensuring a curriculum that focuses on technical skills, but also shows students how to meaningfully apply these skills in a practical, day to day setting.
Outside of the classroom, Ang’s graphic design skills play a large role. Her camera specifically serves as her main hobby. During her time off, she enjoys capturing everyday life, events, and more. Photography has become her creative outlet, allowing her to slow down and appreciate life behind her lens. When she’s not teaching or capturing moments, she values spending time freely. Whether that means in bed, watching Netflix or out and about with her friends. Saturdays and Sundays never feel long enough, but her relaxing weekends make up for her chaotic weekdays.
Ang sees the ICM program as a chance to not only grow in her professional abilities, but to use it as an opportunity to inspire, empower, and connect with her students, making a lasting impact.
