Still relevant. Still popular. Still thriving. Now I’m not talking about myself lol but I’m talking about Instagram. I remember when I first heard of instagram back in middle school maybe 7th or 8th grade, I didn’t hop on the trend right then though, I waited until freshman year of high school and I am now in my masters program STILL using Instagram. The ONLY platform that has officially kept my interest for over 10 years.
Every year or few years per say, we get a different social media platform. Currently, TikTok is dominating the conversation but Instagram is still in the mix as it always has been. Instagram has continued to remain a platform that many of us share photos, message friends and family, follow and keep up with celebrities, trends, even brands and more.
One of the ideas that stood out to me in this week’s reading of Social Media Strategy is that quality is better than quantity. Instead of trying to be active on all platforms, you should focus on the platforms that you feel will support your goals and reach your target demographic. This is where instagram comes in. You can share photos, stories, reels, and direct messaging to your audience in a way that feels much more authentic and personal.
The main reason I like instagram, is that its a fair platform for not only big companies and brands but even for small more local businesses. It’s a platform that has created opportunities for interaction through users content in polls, comments, likes allowing it to build relationships regardless the size instead of simply pushing content.
While new platforms will always continue to rise, Instagram has proven its consistency and longevity throughout the years. In other words, Instagram really is a winner.
